Salish Breeze Counselling & Neurofeedback
Welcome to Salish Breeze Counselling, a private practice set in Selma Park on the Sunshine Coast.
My name is Wendy Charters - I am a Clinical Counsellor, registered with the BCACC (BC Association of Clinical Counsellors). I am also a mother, grandmother, partner, mindfulness practitioner….and fledgling artist.
My practise has grown out of working with youth & families for over 35 years – first as a special education teacher, then as mother, foster parent, employment counsellor, elementary & high school counsellor – and since 2020, in private practice.
I am pleased to offer therapeutic counselling for individuals, couples, and families in my home office, just a 4 minute drive from Sechelt.
At this time I offer counselling both in person and online.
About Me
The most beautiful people I’ve known are those who have known trials, have known struggles, have known loss, and have found their way out of the depths.”
– Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
As the last-born child of a northern European immigrant ‘settler’ family, I watched, wondered, mimicked, and battled through myriad – often conflicting ideas over the course of my longish life about, Who am I? Why am I here? and most anxiously, “Why do people see the world so differently from one another?”
These questions and many more led me down numerous and varied intellectual, academic, spiritual, sometimes dead-end, often forested, & eventually ‘enlightening’ paths.
Amongst my teachers have been fellow seekers and colleagues, my own lived experience, and the natural world. Academically, spiritually and otherwise, I include on that list of great teachers Jean Piaget, Carl Rogers, Erik Erikson, Daniel Siegel, Jon Kabat Zinn, William James, Thich Nhat Hahn, Jean Gendlin, and others.
Wherever you are on your own journey, I invite you to join me for a while, whether here under a Salish Breeze, or otherwise. And perhaps …
”at the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time”. T.S. Eliot
