BETWEEN STIMULUS AND RESPONSE THERE IS A SPACE.

IN THAT SPACE IS OUR POWER TO CHOOSE OUR RESPONSE.

IN OUR RESPONSE LIES OUR GROWTH AND FREEDOM.

NEUROPTIMAL NEUROFEEDBACK - BRAIN TRAINING

For more on Neurofeedback, see My Approach & Services pages

NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback does not attempt to ‘fix’ predetermined or ‘diagnosed’ conditions. Instead, it uses brain training software that prompts the central nervous system to help the brain to make the best use of its own neural resources.

Much of our psychological & emotional suffering comes from persistent, recurring thoughts and feelings in which our minds become emotionally shipwrecked, or cognitively “stuck”. These recurring thoughts are patterns…or ‘turbulence’ in the brain. When the NeurOptimal software detects turbulence, it sends an audible signal – through momentary interruptions in the music – that allows the brain to ‘sit up and take notice’. In this same microsecond the brain is prompted to draw from its existing resources and pull itself out of these mental “ruts” and make better decisions for itself.

Like a mirror that shows you when your hat is crooked or you have food in your teeth, NeurOptimal®’s proprietary neurofeedback software monitors the electrical activity of your brain 256 times per second and provides “feedback” to your central nervous system about what it is doing.

The software and accompanying musical interruptions are always adjusting to your brain in real time, in response to ongoing neural activity. So your brain never receives the same training twice…because your brain is never in exactly the same place. Change occurs based on the changes that have already occurred. The more training a brain does, the better it functions.

Neurofeedback training for the brain is similar to physical training for the body, and because it contributes to general wellness, professional athletes and performers use it to enhance performance & reduce sports anxiety. The system is designed to work directly with the dynamical self-organizing conscious and nonconscious processes, facilitating optimal function. There is no intervention, no manipulation, no concentration and no decision being made about what your brain should or should not be doing (V. & S. Brown, Zengar Institute Inc.).
